The concept for My Mom’s Restaurant comes from my deep affection for the remarkable women in my life: my mom, grandmas, aunties, sister, daughter, and wife. It’s that feeling of love that envelops you upon arrival, with the first words often being, “Are you hungry? Have you eaten?”
Even if you’re not hungry or have already eaten, you can’t resist. When you indulge in that little bowl filled with love, regardless of its contents, you’re filled with warmth and a profound sense of being cherished—only a mother has that incredible ability.
At My Mom’s Restaurant, we serve more than just food—we serve love, connection, and the rich culinary heritage of New Mexico. Founded by Karla and Marie Yniguez, our story began over 15 years ago with Slow Roasted Bocadillos, a Hispanic-owned, woman-owned business built on family traditions, community, and a passion for food. What started as serving school lunches to local charter schools has grown into a vibrant restaurant, catering service, and a food truck adventure, bringing the soul of New Mexico to downtown Albuquerque and beyond.
Our menu is a love letter to the kitchens we grew up in. From red chile cheese enchiladas with egg to breakfast burritos and slow-roasted pork sandwiches, every dish reflects the flavors passed down through generations. Whether it’s a simple sandwich or a comforting bowl of green chile stew, each bite is infused with the same care and love you’d find in a mother’s kitchen.
We’re also proud to share Smoking Fred’s 46, our seasonal smokehouse food truck that adds bold, smoky flavors to the mix. Think smoked mac and cheese, Frito pie with smoked pork, and more—comfort food reimagined with creativity and care.
Beyond the kitchen, My Mom’s Restaurant is deeply rooted in the Albuquerque community. Through initiatives like Behind the Mask for mental health awareness and fundraising for local causes, we’re committed to giving back to the place we call home. Our catering services bring the warmth of our family to your table, whether it’s for an intimate office lunch or a grand wedding celebration.
At My Mom’s, it’s not just about food—it’s about family, tradition, and celebrating the extraordinary role of mothers. When you step through our doors, you’ll feel the love, warmth, and connection that define who we are, leaving with both a full heart and a full belly.
